Predictions For UCL 2018 -19 : English Premier League (EPL)

January 4, 2018

The stunning title race for England’s most prestigious sporting league is well underway and the standings will decide who makes it into the most exciting football battle in Europe – The UEFA Champions League (UCL). Even though the UCL houses top clubs from each of the qualifying nations, the highest level of drama is created during the qualifying rounds in England. And this is exactly why it is so important to discuss the English part of the entire story.

Past champions and title holders of the English Premier League, Chelsea F.C., will look to dominate the EPL season and keep the Golden-Malachite trophy at home to give them a smooth entrance into the qualifying rounds. However, if you have been a close follower of the game, you will agree that the EPL does not reach its climax without equal amounts of joy and heart breaks for its fans. But there’s one good news for all the fans out there, you all can lay hands on your favorite jerseys and other accessories at exciting discounts on Nike.

The summer transfer Mayhem

‘Mayhem’, yes that’s what one would call the recent transfer window which shut its windows in August! The TW was more known for the amount of theater it created with rumors and false hopes rather than the number of transfers that actually happened. But one team that has strengthened its horses this year would be Arsenal. They have managed to sign the promising French striker from Lyon, Alexandre Lacazette, to give company to Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez, who was intensively rumored to be flirting his chances with other Premier League clubs.

Mayhem Transfer

Well, that’s better left undiscussed! Wayne Rooney leaves Manchester United to perhaps conclude his footballing career at Everton. The transfer discussion would be incomplete without mentioning the last-minute arrival of ‘The Ox’, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal to Liverpool. Other eventful transfers being Real Madrid’s ‘gift’ to the already powerful Chelsea through Alvaro Morata and the eventful signing of Mohamed Salah by Liverpool.

Team performances so far-

We are only entering the 5th week of action and a lot has taken place already. There’s nothing better than watching the action unfold right in front of your eyes and to make this dream turn to reality, Hotels.com are giving away hefty discounts on hotel bookings and select getaways to help you catch the action live in England. Looking at the PL table, the top performances have come from Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea. And that’s exactly how the PL table looks like right now.

MCFC and MUFC have managed to maintain a clean sheet with 13 points each while Chelsea had suffered a shock loss against Burnley at home. Arsenal, despite having an almighty team on papers has managed to win only 2 out of their 5 games which have led to huge disappointment and outcry from its fans. But, the silver lining being their powerful performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to hold them for a 0-0 draw.

 MCFC-vs-MUFC

Liverpool, on the other hand, is in a state of shock after the 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City and the recent flop show against Leicester City in the EFL cup. The team needs to re-group under master-manager Jurgen Klopp who has shown his might by refusing the transfer of the swashbuckling Brazilian star, Philippe Coutinho to Spanish giants, FC Barcelona.

Speaking of team performances and The Spurs are yet to unleash their magic as they sit at 5th position after facing one loss and two draws so far. If the sentiments continue to be the same then there should be no further surprises and the top 3 must sail easily into next year’s UCL rounds. And to make it even better for the Premiere league fans, Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotels are giving away hefty discounts on hotel bookings and select getaways.

Players performances so far-

We begin by discussing the dream run of Gabriel Jesus with Manchester City as the 20-year-old Brazilian forward has managed to score 4 fantastic goals so far, 2 of which came against Liverpool in a single match. However, the pole position is held by Sergio Aguero (5 goals, 2 assists) and Romelu Lukaku (5 goals, 1 assist) for Manchester City and Manchester United respectively. In-spite of their current standings, Liverpool should be satisfied with their attack as their three main forwards; Mohamed Salah (3 goals, 1 assist), Alvaro Morata (3 goals, 2 assists) and Sadio Mane (3 goals) have managed to keep the scoreboard ticking while Roberto Firmino has also been handy with 2 goals. Their only thorn in the path to glory being their weakness in the defense.

For Arsenal, the only glimmer of hope came from Dany Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette as the duo has managed to score 5 goals between them. Individual performances in Premier League would be incomplete without discussing the role of one of its most loved and talked about superstar, Wayne Rooney.

Arsenal

No surprises there as the aging footballer has been Everton’s highest scorer with 2 goals to his name. The UCL qualifications from England should hold some interesting talks as the battle is far from over. Though it looks like the rivals within Manchester are growing stronger with each game with only Chelsea and Tottenham behind them, it won’t be a walk in the park as we welcome some intense action next week. With mighty squads, Arsenal and Liverpool must come up with a different game plan, lest they leave their fans for another disappointing season. Only time will tell.
